The John-Wesley School for Children with Special Needs-Chile

The John Wesley School for Children with Special Needs is a project of the Methodist Church of Chile, serving special needs children and youth, and providing support for their families in the capital city of Santiago. It is one of only a few schools in the whole city to provide educational opportunities for students living with autism, Down’s Syndrome, or cerebral palsy.

What are the needs for this school?

As a church-based school, Colegio Juan Wesley is subject to excessive inspection by the Chilean Department of Education. Recently, departmental officials demanded immediate upgrades to the school’s facilities. This will cost approximately $25,000. The Chilean church--whose membership is around 8,000 across the country--has been able to raise $15,000 but is lacking the remaining $10,000. If the repairs are not completed soon, the school could be forced to close.
